The topic of this post though, is the “sort of sequel” to Fate/Stay Night: Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, which was released in 2005, but only received a full English fan translation in 2014.

I first read it all the way through just around a year ago (because I was mostly upset I didn’t get to see the second Heaven’s Feel route movie when it aired in select theaters), and after that, started reading the aforementioned Tsukihime. Certainly not every fan of the series has read it (as it’s an astronomically large work, and a huge time sink) but for those who have, myself included, we can attest to how fantastic it is, with a gripping narrative, great characters, etc. It wasn’t until 2008, two years after we got that adaptation over here, that most westerners were allowed to experience the full story of Shirou, the main character, through a fan translation. All we knew about this series was what we got from the 2006 anime adaptation of (most) of the first route of that literary work. Fate/Stay Night, released in 2004, 4 years after Type-Moon’s first Visual Novel, Tsukihime, released.

As of me writing this, there is no way to get the voice acting onto the PC version of the game.Fate is a series that started in a format rather foreign to most westerners. It is the newly added voice acting that really makes that version better.

While the game looks sharper on the Vita screen and from what I can tell it has been touched up a bit. However, the game was then re-released in 2014 for the PlayStation Vita with various enhancements. The artwork is fantastic as is the music, it has that quality you would expect from this series.

You see this game was originally released on PC all the way back in 2005. In talking about the presentation of Fate/hollow ataraxia we have to talk about two different things. However, the fun you get out of it does all depend on how familiar you are with this franchise. There is a fair bit to keep you entertained in this game. You do also have some mini-games that you can take part in which help keep things interesting and also serve as a way for you to unlock other CGs. One of the things that does set this apart from other visual novels is that it offers more than just reading and making choices. There is a lot to see and unlock in this game with a few risqué scenes thrown in too. The time travel nature of the game makes this more interesting in my opinion. Like the other games in the series, Fate/hollow ataraxia has different routes that you can pick as you progress through the story. Like anything that deals with time travel it may be a tad messy, but Over And Over Again Of course, trying to figure out why this is happening and what caused it makes up the plot of the game. Shiro is also involved and while he is living the good life after the war, through a series of events, a time loop is created that sees Bazett and Shiro living the same four days of the Fifth Holy Grail war over and over again.
